Welcome to my website! I'm Alexis and, within these pages, I've included what captures my interests through photography and the many blessings in my life. I love healthy living, the outdoors, traveling, and sharing precious memories with my family & friends.
Please visit the page dedicated to my Girl Scout Gold Award project, The Golden Garden. With the help of family and friends, I grew an organic garden and donated crops to a local food pantry. I also created a mission statement video on the importance of supporting farms by switching to an organic, non-GMO, dietary lifestyle. In my video, I offer ideas on how to incorporate "clean" foods into your diet in the most economical way. My Gold Award involved over a year and a half of work to complete, and encompasses an important message that I deeply care about.
I learned so much from working on my Gold Award project and I encourage all young girls to join the Girl Scouts. I've been a member of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey for the past 14 years and achieved my Gold Award in December of 2019. My project helped me to focus on my interests while giving me direction in my life. As a result of the work involved with my Gold Award project, I was honored to be a recipient of Chatham University's Rachel Carson Healthy Planet Award.
"Rachel Carson is best remembered for her book, Silent Spring, published in 1962, which gave an accurate account of what might happen if pesticides and DDT went unchecked. This book was directly responsible for the banning of that pesticide and gave impetus to the founding of the environmental movement."
In May of 2019, I was also honored to be inducted onto the 2019-2020 Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey's Board of Directors as a representative to over 26,000 Girls Scouts in our state's region. Through this volunteer position, as well as my Gold Award project, my goal was, and always wil be, to inspire other girls to lead by example and make a difference in this world.
